RFP Fail

Website: www.rfp.com
There are a couple of major things wrong with this site. First of all, it’s RFP.com and doesn’t have anything to do with the enormous industry of RFPs (Request for Proposals). The second thing is that they have three versions of their site. You’ve got www.rfp.com, then http://rfp.com, and then www.fishmanpottery.com. This guy needs to sell www.rfp.com and retire.

Laser Surgery Ranking Fail

Website: www.lasersurgery.com
Why is this a fail you ask? With a domain like this, they should be ranking number one for “laser surgery”. When I checked they were number two, which is still really good, but with a better optimized site and some more links, there should be no reason for them not to be number one.

Domain Fail

Website: www.childrenslaughter.com
The domain name is very important in SEO. If they are not careful, they might just show up for something they were not intending to show up for.

Dead Website Fail

Website: www.dead.com
The problem with this website is that it really is dead. No content, no nothing, just dead.

We Don’t Do SEO Fail

Website: http://www.eantics.co.uk/we-dont-do-seo/
I especially like the line, “It is less and less relevant these days”. If anything, SEO is becoming more relevant these days.

URL Abbreviation Fail

Website: http://www.attny.com/
Not only is this site completely barren but the url, I can only assume, is an abbreviation of the keyword “attorney”. Obviously they wanted that url but couldn’t get it so they decided to get the “liscense plate” version. To my knowledge, abbreviating keywords will only help you show up for that exact abbreviated search. Because the url can have a huge impact on the performance of a sites rankings, this url is worthless if they are trying to rank for the keyword “attorney”.

Longest URL Fail

Website: http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/
Sure these guys rank well for the keyword “longest”, but a url this long is certainly not user-friendly. Having your main keyword in your url three times might help you rank for that keyword (or it might just come across as spammy to the search engines), but it is definitely not a practical web address for your visitors.
