Some people really push to put those keywords in there, even when it doesn’t make sense. If you read through this site, you can clearly pick out the keyword phrase they are trying to optimize for. My favorite is, “So how much does laser eye surgery Orange County cost?”.

This is a very unfortunate waste of a great domain. They even rank number one in Google for the term “seos” yet their site has nothing to do with SEO. All the other results for “seos” on the first page are related to search engine optimization and the intent of this search term is obviously aimed at search engine optimization.

Not to mention the fact that this “leader in search engine marketing technology” has forgotten to 301 redirect the non-www version of their site to the www version.

Website Hijack
The domains www.badseo.com and www.goodseo.com (the non-www versions also) are the exact same websites as www.seobook.com . This is probably not SEO Book’s fault because some people steal other site’s templates and even content. Having said that, it is still something that websites should try and prevent because it is possible for this to have a negative effect on your site. With duplicate content, Google will usually give credit for the content to the most reputable source, but if your site is not obviously more credible than the site that’s stealing from you, you might find yourself out of luck. Luckily for SEO Book, they are quite the reputable source and I don’t think this will have any negative affect on them. But it sure sucks that people do things like this.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to prevent this from happening?
