Well, we have a volunteer for first site review! The request was sent in from Mark who asked us to review the site www.Seo-Strategies.org.
First of all, I would like to thank Mark for volunteering his site for this first review. Please note that these reviews are meant to be breif and not all-inclusive. While there are many SEO techniques that should be considered and implemented into any site wanting to rank well in the search engines, we will only cover a couple in these reviews. Still, we hope they prove useful.
Here are a couple SEO Wins and SEO Fails for this site:
SEO Wins: This site has a page rank of 3 and has over 1,700 backlinks (external links – not from the site itself). It looks like the site has been around for a couple of years, which has certainly helped it to establish some credibility with the search engines. There is also some good content on this site.
SEO Fails: The Header 1 tag is behind the image at the top of the page where it says “Blog Title”. This Header tag reads: “Seo Software ,Adsense Software, Adsense Script,Seo Script”. This is a fail for a couple reasons. First, you should not hide content behind an image when it doesn’t relate to that image, especially with your headers. Second, a header 1 tag is the main title for that page. The way it is written on this page, you would not think it was meant to be a readable, relevant title. It merely comes across as a spammy keyword attempt. In addition, since the header 1 tag is placed behind that image in the template, that then has become your header 1 tag for every page of your site. This is a major SEO fail because you absolutely must have a unique header 1 tag for each page on your site, each one targeting the keyword for its page. I would take your most targeted keyword for this page and create a new header 1 tag near the top of this page that reads like a title, containing your keyword in it naturally. Try to place this keyword towards the beginning of the header if possible. Make sure to take the H1 tag off of that image!
The meta title for this page also seems to target too many keywords for one page. Again, I would take the top keyword you are targeting and focus on that in the meta title.
I’m confused as to why there is a tab called “Keyword”. From what I saw looking over that page quickly, it seemed like that page was meant to provide information about keyword tools to use in SEO. If this is the case, I would recommend changing the name of that tab and page to something like “Keyword tools”.
So, there you go. A very breif analysis of SEO-Strategies.org from the failblog of SEO! There are several other issues that could be addressed with this site, and I hope some other fellow SEO’s will comment on this to help Mark out some more. Thanks again Mark!
